Parish councillors are all volunteers – the role is not paid. Elections are held for the available six positions every four years, usually to coincide with the SODC district council elections. However, if the people willing to put themselves forward are only enough to fill those available positions, no election need be held. Also, if there are still insufficient councillors to fill the available six positions, new members can be co-opted by the parish council.
Councillors are expected to regularly attend the monthly full council meetings, as well as serving on several of the sub-committees and working groups that carry out the detailed work of the council and manage ongoing projects. The full council elects a chair and vice-chair from its membership, and each of the sub-committees and working groups will also have a chair elected. The current membership of South Stoke Parish Council is as follows

This is my second stint as a parish councillor. I have lived within sight of the Thames in London and then Oxfordshire since 1984. I used to row competitively but now feed animals and cut grass.
